Manitoulin Island
The Port of Little Current, resplendent with its brand new eight million dollar waterfront, is certainly the crown jewel of Manitoulin Island, one of Lake Huron's most endearing destinations. From this spectacular Port we offer many unique excursions, including:
"Pow-Wow Excursion"
Your journey begins as soon as you arrive at Manitoulin Island in the Port of Little Current. Here, passengers will board the motorcoach for a 30-minute narrated transfer providing an overview of Manitoulin Island's rich native and nautical history, as well as other interesting commentary on the way of life on the world's largest freshwater island.
The first stop is at the Immaculate Conception Church. A spiritual focal point of the native community that brings together the beliefs and customs of both the native Ojibwe culture and the Catholic Church. Guests then visit the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation for a welcome ceremony and interpretive tour of this state-of-the-art heritage museum and art gallery. Browse the arts and crafts shop and take part in a smudging ceremony. The highlight of the excursion is when guests are immersed in a narrated traditional Aboriginal dance & drum presentation and are invited to join in on an intertribal dance.
The excursion concludes with a 30-minute return transfer back to the Port of Little Current. Here, passengers are invited to stroll the beautiful ship-side waterfront boardwalk while visiting the quaint downtown shops. Banking, Post Office, internet access, and drug stores are all conveniently located steps away from the gangway of your vessel.

"Hiking on the Cup & Saucer Trail"
The Cup and Saucer Trail, located 20 miles west of the port of Little Current, is one of Manitoulin Island's premier tourist destinations. This unique hiking trail offers a panoramic view of over 35 miles from 250 foot high cliff lookouts. The property is owned in part by the Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy, a non-profit corporation whose function is to conserve nature preserves in the Ontario / Niagara Escarpment.
The hike takes about one hour to reach the summit and another hour to hike back down to the parking lot. Guests must be in reasonably good physical condition as some sections of the trail are steep. A good pair of hiking boots is recommended. The entire trail is approximately 4 miles in length and takes about 2 hours to complete, allowing for plenty of time for photos.
Guests are then treated to a selection of Canadian wines and cheeses and locally smoked rainbow trout. There is a local guide for every 20 passengers taking part in the excursion including experts in geology, photography, and paramedic trained firefighters.
